After a decade of working as a stylist with independent clients and on TV sets, I wanted to let let you in on a few secrets to look put together.
While some of these may take some time to put a system in place ( the capsule collection for example), remember, once you have the system in place, it will become quicker and easier than ever to get dressed!
With these five tips, you’ll be well on your way to look put together quickly.

Shoes! One of my not so capsule areas (wink)..aka; I like a lot of shoes. They can seriously change an outfit in literal seconds.
I swear by these 13 tried-and-true brands. They are beyond comfortable and stylish. You can easily dress these up or down.
TIP #3 RED LIPSTICK
The first time I wore red lipstick was on TV (talk about scary!) I fell in love with the looks of it and I swear it elevates every outfit.
Whether you’re wearing a t-shirt and denim or a polished outfit, I swear by red lipstick to look put together quickly. Here are three universally flattering reds makeup artist Jen Brown swears by:

To determine your best red lip, know if you have cool or warm undertones.
ARE YOU COOL OR WARM?
1. In natural light, are your veins blue or green?
Blue veins: you have cool undertones.Green veins: you have warm undertones.
2. Do you look better in gold or silver?
Silver: you have cool undertones. Gold: you have warm undertones.
3. Do you blush or burn easily in the sun? You have cool undertones. Do you have golden skin and freckles? You have warm undertones.

TIP #4 ACCESSORIES
Whether it’s a bold necklace or a barely-there short necklace, accessories are the perfect punch to any outfit. They add oomph to every outfit to look put together.
Stylist tip: Here’s three to know/wear:
- -An heirloom
- -“So me” – this is a creative expression of YOU
- -An always on (your wedding ring, bracelets..)
TIP #5 SCARVES
You won’t catch me without a scarf. Okay maybe one and a while but otherwise, I truly do wear them quite often. All year round scarves can serve as an additional piece to your outfit.
A scarf is a perfect piece to complete your look and change an outfit in seconds.
Remember, you can wear jewelry with your scarf, even necklaces. When you take off the scarf, you’ll have your long necklace on.
